Giannina Gutierrez is an artist based in NYC, working out of East Harlem. She is of Colombian origin, and grew up in Jamaica. Queens NY; she explores both experiences & the alienation in her work. She is self-taught highly involved in the arts from childhood; has studied at The Art Students League & attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY for 2 years majoring in Fine Arts. She works mostly in paints although she enjoys a variety of media (acrylics, oils, enamels, body paint, etc.) and works mostly on found objects, leftover construction materials, street trash. Giannina paints live on the streets, clubs & parties in NYC & Miami. Her work explores metamorphisis and is sexually charged. She continuously explores more ways to talk visually through a surreal language and takes pride in making/donating artwork in support of great causes.
She also works as a make-up artist, originally a fine artist with a passion for creating beauty, she treats the face and body like a canvas. She enjoys using her craft to enhance/transform faces & bodies. She has print, fashion, mens' grooming, body painting, SFX and film experience. She is always looking to expand her portfolio & experience.
